Por primera vez en la historia del sindicalismo español una concentración ciudadana de alcance estatal pone en el punto de mira a los dos principales sindicatos, UGT y CCOO. Y no se trata, como hubiera podido pensarse si esto mismo hubiera ocurrido hace algunos años, de una concentración convocada por movimientos vinculados a la derecha o a la extrema derecha.

Y es que lo que se echa en cara a los sindicatos no es su izquierdismo, sino su pesebrismo, acomodamiento y preocupación exclusiva de su propio estatus, así como de recibir puntualmente sus subvenciones. Se les critica por no hacer lo que se supone que deberían hacer: proteger a los trabajadores y ejercer de fuerza de choque contra la patronal y, en general, el poder económico que se encuentra tras esta. Un poder económico que se basta y se sobra para obligar a los políticos a dictaminar todo tipo de leyes perjudiciales para los trabajadores, si no existe un mínimo de unión y fuerza entre estos.

No es el sindicalismo lo que aquí se pone en duda, sino la ausencia del mismo. Los sindicatos en su día fueron un gran logro que permitió aumentar el nivel de vida de muchísimas familias, para llegar al tan cacareado «estado del bienestar». Muy pocos empresarios están dispuestos a pagar más a sus trabajadores o a conceder cuestiones como días de vacaciones o seguridad social por su propia voluntad. Esos derechos fueron logros del sindicalismo, un sindicalismo que hoy no existe para evitar el desmantelamiento de lo que sus predecesores consiguieron.

Los convocantes de las concentraciones ponen especial énfasis en decir que no se trata de un ataque contra los sindicalistas de base, sino contra las cúpulas dirigentes de CCOO y UGT. Unas cúpulas que han sido incapaces de articular la menor reacción ante la que está cayendo y todavía ha de caer. Y es que esta crisis, creada por personas concretas y prácticas financieras concretas, está siendo cobrada a quienes menos responsabilidad tienen, que son también los más vulnerables. Y los sindicatos no están haciendo nada para que sea de otro modo.

En definitiva, estas concentraciones pretenden ser un estímulo para que CCOO y UGT se preocupen por hacer lo que se supone que tienen que hacer, sabedores de que ahora están en el punto de mira y de que, si hacen caso omiso a estas protestas, su propia existencia puede quedar en entredicho en un plazo de tiempo de medio a corto.
