El grupo de gobierno de Arrecife rechaza una moción que pedía acelerar las obras de canalización de Argana

A las 9.00 de la mañana de hoy estaba convocada primera sesión ordinaria del peno del Ayuntamiento de Arrecife en este mandato con dos puntos fundamentales en el orden del día. Uno de ellos, la aprobación de una nueva normativa sobre las tasas que bares y restaurantes deben pagar por el uso de la vía pública para la colocación de mesas y sillas de terraza. La propuesta fue retificada con los votos a favor de todos los grupos políticos a excepción de Coalición Canaria, que se abstuvo.

Más polémica resultó la moción presentada por Alternativa Ciudadana 25 de mayo solicitando la agilización de los trámites para iniciar las obras de canalización de aguas pluviales en el barrio de Argana, en la que se exigía al ayuntamiento que aportara la partida prometida tras las inundaciones del mes de enero, y que este actuase a su vez ante el Cabildo y el Gobierno para que aportaran las partes que en periodo preelectoral habían comprometido para la realización de la obra.  La moción fue rechazada por el grupo de gobierno (PP y PSOE), aludiendo a que ya se está trabajando sobre el asunto.

De las explicaciones del alcalde Cándido Reguera durante la sesión no se puede extraer sin embargo que se cuente con el presupuesto necesario para el inicio de la obra ni que el proyecto que en estos momentos está sobre la mesa sea el que finalmente se realice. Cabe recordar que en periodo preelectoral el pleno del Ayuntamiento de Arrecife llegó a un acuerdo para solicitar un crédito extraordinario de 350.000 euros que se dedicaría a sufragar la red de drenaje de Arrecife en la zona de Argana Alta, presupuesto que se completaría con lo comprometido por el Consejo Insular de Aguas y el Gobierno de Canarias.

El pleno fue presenciado por miembros de la activa asociación de vecinos de Argana, que en varias ocasiones ha reclamado la inmediata puesta en marcha de las obras de pluviales en el barrio, sobretodo tras las inundaciones que el pasado 25 de enero causaron cuantiosas pérdidas materiales. En declaraciones a los medios tras el pleno, su presidente, Andrés Medina, volvió a mostrar su descontento con la actuación del Ayuntamiento de Arrecife y su alcalde por no cumplir con la palabra dada y seguir «tirando balones fuera».

La moción para que el Ayuntamiento agilice la puesta en marcha de las obras de Argana llega casi al tiempo que la confirmación por parte del Consejo Insular de Aguas de la aportación de los 332.577 comprometidos por la institución insular para el inicio de las obras de drenaje. La propuesta para que el ayuntamiento agilice también su parte comprometida fue desestimada por el voto en contra de los dos partidos del grupo de gobierno, Partido Popular y PSOE, mientras Alternativa Ciudadana, PIL y PNL votaron a favor y Coalición Canaria se abstuvo.
